APPLY: Africa Leadership Initiative Offers Training Opportunity To Nigerian Youths
The Africa Leadership Initiative West Africa (ALIWA), in partnership with the US Embassy Abuja, is calling for applications to its youth leadership programme.
The ‘ALIWA Youth Leadership Programme (AYLP) – Nigeria’ is a transformative leadership development programme, in which participants are challenged to think critically about their values and ideas to encourage societal development.
The programme seeks to build leadership capacity, promote active citizenship and mobilise grassroot impact among the youth at community and state levels in Nigeria.
“Highly thought-provoking and practical, we expect participants to emerge from this program with new perspectives as they confront the difficult challenges and choices of Nigeria today,” ALIWA said in a statement.
The programme will run virtually for a period of nine months.
It will be structured into three parts: an introductory three months with moderated seminars by ALIWA fellows followed by a three-month break for practical application of learnings and skills where participants will be supervised and paired with mentors, assigned further readings and also embark on individual or group projects.
The concluding three months will include moderated seminars to reinforce the preceding six-month experience and prepare the participants to be lifelong change agents and leaders.
Applications are open to Nigerian youths between the ages of 20 to 30 at the time of nomination, who have demonstrated potential for leadership and a personal commitment to serve within their communities, and who have the ability to engage on complex and diverse text.
Applicants are also required to be ready to commit the time and effort to the programme curriculum.
