CAMA: CAC To Publicise Regulations For Incorporated Trustees

The controversy following the assent into law by President Muhammadu Buhari of the Companies and Allied Matters Act, CAMA, 2020, is an issue that requires amicable resolution rather than a unilateral mindset.

Religious bodies and other non-governmental organisations had repeatedly called on the Federal Government for a review of the Act as they faulted some sections of the act. They laid claims that they were being targeted.

The Presidency reacted to insinuations that the Companies and Allied Matters Act recently signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari was aimed at stifling the growth and development of churches in Nigeria, describing the claim as false and untenable.

PUNCH reports that the Corporate Affairs Commission on Tuesday said it would soon publicise the regulation to guide affairs of incorporated trustees under the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 2020.

CAC’s Registrar-General, Garba Abubakar, disclosed this in Abuja, according to a series of tweets posted on the verified Twitter handle of the commission.

The agency tweeted, “The CAC says it will soon expose to the public regulation to guide affairs of incorporated trustees under the CAMA, 2020.

“This follows the assent of the CAMA Bill earlier by President Muhammadu Buhari.”

Abubakar said an in-house committee was working hard to conclude work on the draft regulation.

He said members of the public would have the opportunity to make comments and suggestions on the way forward.

The commission’s boss assured the public that the CAC would be transparent, fair and just to all registered incorporated trustees in the discharge of its duties.

It enjoined Nigerians to support and cooperate with the commission as it strived to build a world-class companies registry.
