The sole reason for any business is to make profit even if you are running it from inside your one-bedroom, there is always room to increase your sales.
Email marketing is not new, and it’s neither rocket science. All you need to know is the basics to get started.
What is a Drip Campaign?
A drip campaign is an automated strategy used to nurture leads or prospects and convert them to customers. Drip campaigns are known to convert customer 20 times faster than any other digital channel like Instagram or Facebook.
The next step is to generate a list.
A list can be generated by using what is popular referred to as a form that can easily be created using applications such as google docs. Simply type google form and click to create a new from the google search engine. On the form, ensure the following is available there: Name, Phone number and Email address.
These three are critical to capturing leads, so ensure that they are not optional. Once the form is designed, then the next step is to create what we call a lead magnet.
A lead magnet can be any of the following:
- Free E-books.
- Coupons, discounts, or trials for free.
- Free worksheets or templates etc. associated with your business.
For example, if you run an event manager and wish to train people to learn what you do; you can create a sample worksheet which people can download for free by releasing their details to you.
Next Step is to advertise.
These are the following places you can advertise –
- WhatsApp statuses.
- Your Social media pages like Instagram, Facebook etc.
- Or paid adverts on Facebook or google ads (If you have the funds).
While you wait – Start creating your content for your campaign.
To start with content creation for email; we need to understand what a sequence is in email marketing.
A sequence is usually a series of email about 4 to 5 that welcomes, informs and eventually coverts the lead to customers.
To get started: here is a template for your drip emails.

To More wins.
Feel free to be as creative as possible while designing your email template. It can be entertaining, educational or informative. This template can serve as a guide to convert leads or prospects. Note that we offered a gift for new subscribers then encouraged them to use it followed by the FOMO (Fear of missing out) technique which is creating scarcity with the last email signifying they take action.
At the last touchpoint, most leads will convert, but if they don’t – upsell to them again using other emailing techniques.
Email drips like every other campaign needs monitoring because not everyone converts and you will need to remove some in between campaigns. Filter those who are converting at every stage and then remove them from your email drip list.
All these analyses help to improve the performance of an email drip. One other reason why this makes sense is that people would rather receive and open an email than a phone call which they might consider as not important. Getting started is free, and some of the applications you can begin with are Sender, HubSpot email, and MailChimp.
